The University of North Texas was able to invite the wonderful Mr. John Legend to speak to students, faculty, and other guests this evening. I was able to make it to see the last twenty minutes of his powerful speech and watch his whole performance. Legend spoke of the importance of his upbringing and the need to constantly invest into education and the youth of our future. Our nation is faced with perilous times, but we should never lower the bar or ingenuity that should be available to our younger generations. Legend challenged all of us to partake in giving back to the communities that surround each of us. A collective effort to raise these bars would output the growth of our Nation, exponentially.
After giving his speech, Legend proceeded to answer questions from the large crowd and then quickly transitioned into his performance. Hearing him croon out the words of, "Green Light" and other arrangements of popular singles he has produced, was amazing. He could've easily sang without the piano or microphone and still manage to win many hearts over. Might I add that Legend had his own piano arranged to be on stage tonight in his performance. John Legend wooed the crowd over tenfold and ended with his famed song, "Ordinary People". Thank you, Mr. Legend.
